Christian Herrera was named head women's soccer coach at Walla Walla University in 2026, bringing extensive coaching experience, a deep commitment to player development and a lifelong connection to the Walla Walla community.
A Walla Walla native, Herrera joins the Walla Walla University coaching staff after spending seven years coaching with Walla Walla United Soccer Club. During his tenure, he served as head coach for multiple boys and girls teams ranging from the U12 to U19 levels, helping develop players at every stage of the youth game. His teams captured three Classic League 1 championships with U17-U19 boys squads and won the Washington Cup at the U15 level.
In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Herrera has served as president of Walla Walla United Soccer Club since 2025, providing leadership for one of the region's premier youth soccer organizations and helping expand opportunities for young athletes throughout the community.
Herrera also spent two seasons as an assistant coach for the Walla Walla High School boys soccer program, where he led the C team before accepting the opportunity to become the Wolves' head women's soccer coach.
Holding a U.S. Soccer Federation (USSF) D Coaching License, Herrera is committed to fostering technical development, competitive excellence and a positive student-athlete experience. His passion for coaching is rooted in the mentors and community members who invested in him growing up, and he remains dedicated to giving the next generation of players the same opportunities through both collegiate and youth soccer.
As he begins his tenure at Walla Walla University, Herrera is focused on building a competitive program that reflects the university's values while continuing to strengthen the connection between Wolves Athletics and the local soccer community.
