WWU Drops a Close Battle with NCU 0-1

EUGENE, Ore.  – After a few of his senior teammates had a chance to shine on Friday night, it was Brandon Lotts turn on Saturday, scoring the game-winning goal in a 1-0 victory over Walla Walla University.

It was the second straight win for the Beacons (3-10-1, 2-7 CCC) and the second consecutive shutout for senior goalkeeper John Castro. NCU outshot the Wolves 29-6 in the game and Castro made three second-half saves to preserve the victory.

The goal came early, in the 16th minute, and the Beacons held on for the final 74 minutes to remain undefeated all-time against the Wolves. The play developed quickly as Lotts recovered a cross that had been punched out of the box by WWU keeper, Josh Fry. From 20-yards, Lotts lofted a chip shot back toward the goal, up and over the keeper for the only score of the night.

Walla Walla (0-10, 0-10) allowed 11 shots in the game as Josh Fry continued his strong play and made eight saves between the pipes.

Walla Walla University is at home this weekend with games on Friday and Sunday.
