10/18/2015 1:55:00 AM

Box Score COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – Walla Walla University (7-12, 3-10) battled the visiting Northwest Christian University (12-9, 5-9) but fell short losing 23-25, 10-25 and 17-25.

Set one was close from start to finish with neither team gaining much advantage. The Wolves Lexi Shanko came up big leading both teams with 6 kills but the Beacons offense only committed 4 hitting errors and won by a score of 25-23.

Set two was all Beacons. WWU struggled to get any pass close to the net and the Beacons took full advantage of every free ball. As a team, NCU hit .426 over WWU's .105 and cruised to an easy 25-10 victory. This was a costly loss to WWU with starting outside hitter, Lexi Shanko, going out with a possible broken hand.

Spurred on by a line-up change, the Wolves started off on fire and gained a 5-2 lead but hitting errors proved to be their downfall as they hit a .103 to the Beacons .300 and saw the Northwest come away with the win, 25-17.

The Beacons were led by Chandler Gabrio and Carissa Allen with 13 and 11 kills respectively. Laurie Salness had a match high 35 assists and Haley Damian lead both teams with 22 digs.

Lexi Shanko, who only played in two sets, led the Wolves with 9 kills followed by Maria Darling with 8 and also added in 13 digs. Rylee Sutton lead the team with 19 digs and Alissa Casey and Lauren Bosler added 14 and 13 assists respectively. Emily Allen had a match high 4 blocks.

The Wolves are next in action Sunday, Oct 18 at 3:30pm vs Corban.
