Wolves Falter Against Geoducks

Box Score COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – Despite jumping out to an early lead, the Wolves faltered against the Geoducks as they lost 21-25, 18-25, 14-25.
 
The match started off looking solid for the Wolves (7-17, 3-15) as Emily Allen got the offense going by hitting over the block and into the corner for the first point of the game. Emily also teamed up with Natalie Skeoch to earn the second point with a block assist. The Geoducks (4-19, 4-14) found the Wolves block three times in the early part of the game as WWU took a 13-9 lead.
 
The Evergreen State College, behind some tough serving by Natalie Taylor who had two aces in the first set and Matise Davis with one ace took the set to 21-19 in favor of ESC. The Wolves block which was dominating at the start of the match now showed holes and was tooled by the Geoducks as they took the first set 25-21.
 
The rest of the match saw Evergreen State serve and tip for their points. The WWU defense didn't have an answer to either until late in the third set but it was a little too late as and Evergreen rolled to an easy three set victory.
 
The Geoducks were led by Natalie Taylor and Kelsey Delagrange with 12 kills and Jordan Porter with 9. Kylie delivered 34 assists and Cheyenne Baird along with Natalie Taylor added 3 aces each. Cheyenne also contributed 12 digs.
 
The Wolves were led by Lexi Shanko with 6 kills and 8 digs. Alissa Casey and Lauren Bosler teamed up to have 9 and 6 assists respectively. Emily Allen had a match high 4 blocks.
 
The Wolves are at home on Thursday, November 5 at 7:00pm against Eastern Oregon while the Geoducks are at home this weekend against Multnomah and Warner Pacific.
