Improving Wolves Fall to Eagles 0-3

Box Score COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – Walla Walla University (7-16, 3-14) jumped out to an early led in all three sets but Northwest University (17-9, 12-6) took the win 16-25, 21-25, 19-25.
 
The Wolves started out hot with two kills from Natalie Skeoch and a block assist from Natalie Skeoch and Emily Allen to go up 4-1. Behind the attack of Hannah Hanson and Amanda Waterman, the Eagles fought back to earn an 11-11 tie. After some aggressive serving by Alysanne Van Dyke and Sarah Warner, the Eagles would go ahead 17-13 but the Wolves caught a break when NW was called for out of rotation. It wasn't enough for the Wolves as the Eagles pushed to win the first set 25-16.
 
The second set started off much the same way with WWU jumping out to an early led but NU was very effective tooling the block all night and was able to catch up. Both teams traded points and had ties at 20 and 21. The Northwest serving took over as they came away with a 25-21 victory with the last point an ace.
 
The third set started and ended the same as the first two with WWU jumping out to an early led just to have NU climb back and take the win. The Eagles out hit the Wolves 44 kills to 30 and a hitting percentage of .233 to .082.
 
"We played a tough team tonight and competed with them from start to finish" said coach Hepker. "I'm really proud of my girls for the way they fought tonight".
 
The Eagles were led by Amanda Waterman with 18 kills and Morgan Pilon with 25 assists. Emmaline Stockton had a match high 19 digs and Mattie Jo Johnson had 3 solo blocks along with her 2 block assists. Alysanne Ban Dyke and Sarah Warner each had 2 aces.
 
The Wolves stat leaders were Lexi Shanko and Maria Darling with 11 kills, 9 digs and 7 kills and 8 digs respectively. Natalie Skeoch led the team with 12 digs and Lauren Bosler added 9 of her own. Alissa Casey had 20 assists.
 
The Wolves play again on Sunday at 2:00pm vs the Evergreen State College.
