CALDWELL, Idaho – Jaycin Tini scored 18 points and added 14 rebounds, as the College of Idaho outscored Walla Walla 58-13 in the second half to cruise to a 98-36 Cascade Conference victory in the J.A. Albertson Activities Center.
The Lady Yotes (2-6, 1-1 CCC) forced 41 turnovers, outscoring the Wolves 49-2 on the miscues and held a commanding 35-0 edge in fast break points.
Madison Pilster scored eight of her 18 points in a 15-2 run by the Yotes to open the game, but watched as the Wolves (0-7, 0-2) countered with three
Christina Thermidor inside baskets and a
Grace Wallace triple to cut the gap to 25-20 with five minutes left in the first half.
C of I clamped down, limiting WWU to just one made field goal over the next nine minutes – while finding their shooting range. A Ryleigh Swagerty 3-point play started the rally, with Tini scoring seven points in a 15-3 spurt to end the half to give the hosts a 40-23 edge.
The Yotes put the game out of reach in the third quarter, making 16-of-25 shots in the period – outscoring the Wolves 33-6. Pilster had 10 points and Petra Lumpert scored all 10 of her points in the rally.
Maddie Skaggs scored a career-high 15 points with five rebounds and Swagerty scored five points with six assists and five of C of I's 27 steals.
Thermidor had 13 points and 11 rebounds in the loss for the Wolves.
Janessa Blaser added 8 rebounds and 1 steal.
Walla Walla University returns to action Saturday night at home as they host Lewis-Clark State College.
