9/13/2015 3:28:00 AM

Box Score COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. – The Walla Walla University Wolves (4-5, 1-3) set a school record by hitting .520 in the first set but it wasn't enough to overcome Warner Pacific (3-4, 2-2) who hit a .552 and took set one by a score of 25-22.

The Wariors jumped out to an early 7-2 lead and held it for much of the set but the Wolves fought back to earn a tie then got their first lead of the set at 21-20 off a Lexi Shanko kill. WP regained control of the set and Mikaela Lisoski served the set out.

Both schools offenses were on fire in set one. The Wolves were led by Emily Allen and Perri Shanko who had three kills each and no hitting errors. The Warriors were led by Nicole Kincaide, Janessa White and Grace Rivers all scoring five kills each.

It was Walla Walla University who jumped out to an early lead in set two but couldn't hold on as Warner Pacific's serving got hot led by Kendra Henry who tallied 3 aces in the set in a 19-25 victory. Emily Allen led the way for the Wolves with four kills and still no hitting errors in the match.

Set three started with an ace for Walla Walla University's Alissa Cassey but Warner Pacific fired back with six straight points. The Wolves battled back to take a 21-20 lead. Both teams traded points until Warner Pacific earned the final two to win 25-23.

"I was happy with our physical performance tonight" said Walla Walla's Coach Hepker. "This is the best our offense has done all season. We eliminated a lot of the errors but still stayed aggressive when attacking the ball. Where we struggled was communication. This is a tough conference and we can't afford to let balls land between players and no go for them."

The Wolves had a balanced attack lead by Emily Allen and Maria Darling each earning eight kills. Perri Shanko and Lexi Shanko followed with seven and six kills respectively. Emily Allen added three blocks to her night but Melissa Barton had a match high four blocks. Lauren Bosler tallied up fifteen assists and Alissa Casey added thirteen.

Stat leaders for the Warriors were Janessa White with a match high seventeen kills. Kendra Henry had eleven digs and three aces while Kealia Rosa totaled forty one assists.
