La Grande, Ore. -  Eastern Oregon (26-2, 19-1) has been the class of the conference this year, and a spirited effort by the Wolves was not enough the Mountaineers took the match in three sets.  EOU spread the ball around tonight, they had four players all with 15 or more kill attempts for the match, but it was Rachelle Chamberlain who has doing the setup, as she accumulated 36 assists on the night. The Wolves struggle to get their attack in line and while they battled the Mountaineers hard, they could not find a way to break through.

In the first set, EOU opened a 7-1 lead, capping it off with a kill by Amanda Miller.  The Wolves countered with a 5-3 run of their own, a kill by Emily Allen made it 9-6.  After exchanging points back and forth Eastern began pulling away.  Amanda Miller had a big first set, and a big kill by her made the score 21-11 in favor of EOU.  An Isabelle Statkus kill made the score 25-16 in favor of the Mountaineers as the took the opener.

Eastern Oregon came out on a mission to start the second set and jumped out to a 10-0 led to start the match.  It took a service error by Rachelle Chamberlain to break the run.  Walla Walla never truly got into a rhythm and the Mountaineers never got out of theirs.  A block in the middle by Melissa Barton and Morgan Doyle gave WWU their eighth point of the match.  From there EOU took back control and scored the final three points straight and took the set 25-8.

The third match started out poorly once again for the Wolves, but they showed resilience and fought back into it after EOU jumped to a 12-3 lead.  Nilah Mata'afa's ace put the score to 12-5 in favor of the Mountaineers.  After back to back kills by Megan Bunn, the Wolves went on a run of their own and got the benefit of several EOU errors in the middle of that match.  But the Mountaineers regained control and expanded the led.  Madisen Garlie's kill ended the match, 25-16.

The Wolves are back in action this weekend, as they head to College of Idaho for their final match of the season.
