The Raiders Welcome the Wolves to the Season with a Tough Opener

Box Score Paul Starkebaum, Sports Information Director

College Place, Wash.- The Wolves knew it would be a tough start to the season with their first game of the season being against a Cascade Conference opponent, and Southern Oregon University (SOU) delivered.  The Raiders scored 11 goals on the day and held Walla Walla scoreless.  Carlos Magana lead the Raiders with a hat trick, scoring three goals on the day.  Roberto Lupera spotted his teammates well on the pitch as he finished with three assists.

It didn't take long for the Raiders to get on the board, as Sean McManamon scored just under 4 minutes into the match on a pass from Ahmon Afenegus.  SOU chipped in 2 more goals before 20 minutes had passed.  At this point in the Wolves regrouped and played even with the Raiders for the majority of the first half.  Coach Burns felt like the team showed their competitiveness at this point, choosing to dig in and fight back instead of caving in after a tough start.
