Wolves Fall 1-0 To Beacons

Eugene, Ore. – The Wolves defense played excellent today but they were not able to come up with a goal in a 1-0 loss to Northwest Christian this afternoon.  Despite the loss, allowing one goal in a match is a season-low for the Wolves.

In the first half, Walla Walla did an excellent job of not allowing the Beacons to get many quality scoring opportunities.  Wolves Keeper, Kohl Tomcho, was extremely effective today.  But in the 23rd minute of the match, Tony Alcala place a pass from the right side into the middle of the field for Olisa Obianozie who chipped it in from 10 feet out to score the only goal of the match for the Beacons.

During the second, the Wolves took their defense to another level, not allowing the Beacons to get a quality shot on goal the entire 45 minutes.  The increased effort on defense looked like it might wane in the last 15 minutes of the match, as Northwest Christian had a series of corner kicks that looked like may result in a goal.  But the Wolves didn't break, not allowing a second goal.  While the defense played well for Walla Walla, they were not able to generate quality looks on offense.  The Wolves were not able to score a goal and lost 1-0 to the Beacons.

Walla Walla plays #10 Corban University tomorrow night in Salem, Oregon.  The match is set to begin at 8:00 p.m.
