Box Score Paul Starkebaum, Sports Information Director

College Place, Wash. – A balanced attack combined with an efficient hitting percentage of .359 was the difference in the Multnomah Lions win over Walla Walla on Saturday night.  The Lady Wolves were not able to build much momentum in the match as they lost in straight sets.

In the opening set, the Wolves played even with the Lions through five points, before a kill by Multnomah's Miranda Halverson sparked a 7-3 run.  Walla Walla was not able to stabilize the set and the Lions steadily built their lead.  A ball handling error from the Wolves ended the first set as Multnomah took the opener 25-15.

The second set opened similar to the first, with Walla Walla matching the Lions early point for point.  But Multnomah's Halverson would prove to be the difference in the second, as she had several key kills in the set to put the Lions in the lead.  Down 16-9, Walla Walla made a push to get back into the match.  They went on a 5-2 run to cut the Lions lead to four points.  A kill from the Lions Kam Maile ended that run and Multnomah took back control of the set.  A kill from Patty Batoon gave the Lions the second set 25-18.

The third and final set of the night was the most lopsided for Multnomah.  They established an early lead never looked back.  The Lions Sydney Amundsen, had the final kill of the match as Multnomah took the third set 25-12, defeating Walla Walla in straight sets.

Lauren Barlow led the Wolves with 10 kills, and Krista Schafer had 10 assists for Walla Walla.

The Wolves play their final two matches of the season on the road next weekend. Friday, November 3, they play the College of Idaho Coyotes.
