#14 Yotes Defeat Wolves

Caldwell, Idaho – The #14 College of Idaho Coyotes celebrated their seniors on Friday afternoon and the finished their regular season with a straight-sets victory over Walla Walla.  The Lady Wolves attempted to rally the match in the third set but the balanced and powerful attack of the Yotes proved to be too much to handle.
 
The Yotes came out firing, with a .593 hitting percentage in the opening set.  Walla Walla started up 2-1 after a kill from Morgan Doyle, but College of Idaho quickly answered and built a 10-3 lead.  The Wolves were not able overcome that deficit and lost the set 25-8. 
 
The second set opened with the Yotes jumping out to a 10-3 lead once again.  But the Wolves play started to improve and COI stumbled, committing several errors that allowed Walla Walla to somewhat close the gap.  The Wolves were not able to take advantage however as they took committed several errors in the set middle of the set.  An attack error from the Wolves ended the set and College of Idaho took the second 25-15. 
 
The third and final set would be hands down the most competitive of the match.  A kill from Caldora Blackburn started a run for the Wolves.  Walla Walla rattled off three straight points from there, two of which being aces from Sarah Halversen to put Walla Walla within striking distance at 15-13.  A kill from Idaho's Alaina Slater got them back on track and the lead started to build again for the Yotes.  The last kill of the match came from the Yotes Slater, as they won the set 25-20 and took the match in straight sets.
 
Walla Walla was led in Kills by Lauren Barlow with 7, Krista Schafer's 7 assists was a team high and so was Lauren Basler's 9 digs.  College of Idaho's Taylor Alexander led all players in the match with 10 kills.
 
Walla Walla play's their final match of the season tomorrow night at Eastern Oregon University.  The match is set to begin at 6:30 p.m.
