Women’s Basketball: Yotes Out Run Wolves

2/19/2017 2:52:00 AM

Box Score Paul Starkebaum, Sports Information Director

Caldwell, Idaho –The Wolves made the trip to Caldwell, Idaho to take on College of Idaho (12-14, 18-8) tonight.  Walla Walla (2-23, 0-19) was not able to match the fast pace of the Yotes, at lost 96-42.

By the Numbers
  • The Wolves top scorer was Alyssa Blankenship.  She had 16 points and was the only Walla Walla player to reach double figures
  • Madison Pilster led the Yotes in scoring with 19 points.  She was one of four College of Idaho players in double figures
  • Alyssa Blankenship led all players in rebounds with 10, and Lexi Ehlers was second on the Wolves with 7 rebounds
  • The Wolves shot 28% from the field today as opposed to College of Idaho, who shot 46%

How it Happened
Petra Lumpert scored a layup in transition for College of Idaho, scoring the first two points of the game.  About a minute later Alyssa Blankenship hit a layup of her own to put the Wolves on the scoreboard.  The Yotes would rattle off a 7-0 run from there and open up a lead the Wolves would not be able to cut into.  Neither team shot well today from deep, but the Yotes made up for that with transition points and points in the paint.  Walla Walla was not able to run as successfully with College of Idaho as they did in their first meeting this season.  Poor shooting and turnovers hurt Walla Walla's ability to keep pace.  Alyssa Blankenship had a double-double, but Wolves fell 96-42 to the Yotes.

Up Next
