Wolves Drop Both Matches In Oregon Road Trip

Eugene, Ore. – The Wolves traveled to Oregon this weekend for matchups against Corban University and Northwest Christian University. The Wolves (0-17, 0-16 CCC), still looking for their first victory of the season would fall short in both matches, dropping each match in straight sets.
 
Against Corban University (16-8, 12-3 CCC), the Wolves would start off scoring the first two points of set one, however the Warriors would go on a 9-0 run to claim the lead and would not look back. The Warriors would drop the Wolves in set one, 25-14.

In set two the Wolves were able to match Corban early on as set two provided multiple ties, the latest at 12. From here, Corban would go on a 4-0 run to claim the lead and would not give up their lead en route to a 25-17 set two victory.

Set three would start off with the Wolves holding a 4-3 lead over the Warriors in the early stages of the set. The Warriors would put together a 7-0 run to reclaim the lead in set three and would hold off a Wolves rally en route to a 25-10 set three victory and would drop the Wolves in straight sets.

Lauren Barlow and Sarah Halversen picked up four kills each, while Erika Dudar recorded 10 digs to lead the Wolves.

Against Northwest Christian University, the Wolves would put together a better fight, however they would fall short to the Beacons (11-13, 4-11 CCC) on Saturday night and drop the match in straight sets (25-22, 25-14, 25-22).
 
The Wolves would go back-and-forth with the Beacons early on as set one would be knotted at five. The teams would exchange 2-0 runs before the Beacons would take the lead at 13-11. The Wolves would answer with a run of their own by going on a 6-0 run to reclaim the lead 14-11. The teams would again exchange points back-and-forth with the Wolves clinging to a 19-16 lead. The Beacons would go on a 7-0 run to reclaim the lead and would hold off the Wolves rally en route to a 25-22 set one victory.

Set two would follow the same theme as both teams would go back-and-forth with the Beacons holding a 10-8 lead. The beacons would go on a 6-0 run and the Wolves would not be able to recover and would drop set two, 25-14.

Set three would see the Wolves double up the Beacons in the early stages at 6-3. The Beacons would respond, however, and would go on a 5-2 run to knot the set up at 8. The Beacons would extend their lead over the Wolves to 13-9, however, the Wolves would counter the Beacons run with a 5-0 run themselves. The teams would exchanges points back-and-forth with the Wolves holding a one point lead at 17-16. The Beacons would take advantage of some Wolves errors and would reclaim the lead, but the Wolves would not give in and would fight back to tie the set up at 22. From here, the Beacons would score the final three points of the set and claim the match in straight sets over the scrappy Wolves (25-22, 25-14, 25-22).
 
Caldora Blackburn picked up nine kills, while Erika Dudar recorded 15 digs to lead the Wolves.

Walla Walla will look to rebound next week. The Wolves will host Corban University on Monday, October 29 at 3:00 p.m. in front of their home crowd on Windemuth Court.
