9/12/2018 3:16:00 PM

Box Score
Helena, Mont. – The Wolves traveled to Montana to kick off their Cascade Collegiate Conference (CCC) season matching up against the Saints of Carroll College, who also was opening their CCC season. Unfortunately for the young Wolves (0-5, 0-1 CCC), an early start by the Saints (2-1, 1-0 CCC) was the difference in the match, as the Saints were able to put the Wolves in an early deficit and would not look back. The Wolves would eventually fall in their conference opener, 15-0.

Coming off a tough preseason schedule, the Wolves looked to use that playing experience they gained to kickstart their conference season, however the Wolves were unable to avoid a halftime deficit to the Saints, who scored their first goal in the 13th minute by Javi Porras, his first of three goals. The Saints would continue putting pressure on the Wolves, building a 7-0 halftime over the Wolves.

The Saints would have multiple players report hat tricks, as Pablo Salamanca would score the other hat tick. The Saints were able to find open lanes in the Wolves defense, leading to 44 total shots compared to the Wolves 7.

William Burns spoke after the game, talking about his initial reactions to the Wolves conference opener. "Tough game today, but even tough we lost by a huge margin there were a few positive," said Burns. " Our starting unit did a real good job of holding Carroll to only two goals for the first 37 minutes. Unfortunately, we could not maintain that momentum and gave up five goals in a six-minute span right before half. That was the game right there. I have to do a better job of making sure we our focused. Now it's on to Providence."

The Wolves will look to rebound quickly, as they travel up Interstate-15 to take on the University of Providence Argos on Sunday, September 16.  The match will begin at 11:00AM Mountain Standard Time.
