Klamath Falls, Ore. – The Wolves traveled to Klamath Falls for a rematch with the Owls of Oregon Tech to wrap up their two game road trip to Oregon. Unfortunately for the Wolves (0-5, 0-4 CCC) errors would get the best of them and would led to the Owls (7-4, 2-2) picking up the victory in straight sets (25-13, 25-11, 25-15).
Coming off a touch matchup against a ranked SOU team, the Wolves looked to respond early in set one and create better serve/receive opportunities. However, the home team Owls would strike early, building a quick 7-2 lead. The Wolves were not able to overcome the Owls quick start and would drop set one, 25-13.
In set two, the Wolves were able to match early points with the Owls, keeping the score within striking distance, but a 5-0 run extended the score to 13-7, in favor of the Owls. The Wolves were not able to string together any runs to get back into set two and would eventually fall to the Owls, 25-11.
In set three, the Wolves could not overcome errors, as the Owls would take advantage off the Wolves 10 errors. The Wolves were never able to recover and would fall in set three, 25-15 en route to the Owls claiming the deciding set and picking up their second win over the Wolves in conference play.
The Wolves were led by
Lauren Barlow (6 kills and 12 digs) and setter
Krista Schafer (15 assists).
Scott Schafer talked after the game about the improvement since their last game the previous night. "Overall, the team played better than last night," noted Schafer. "We reached some goals that we set for ourselves with our offense and increased our serve/receive score from last time we played them. On the other hand, the Owls had more offensive fire power than us tonight."
