Women's Volleyball Drops Both Matches on Weekend Road Trip

Caldwell, Idaho. – Walla Walla began their weekend road trip, traveling to Caldwell, Idaho to take on the No. 23 Coyotes of College of Idaho (CoI). Unfortunately for the Wolves, the Coyotes used 20 service aces to fuel them to a three-set sweep over Walla Walla, 25-11, 25-11, 25-16.
 
Game 1:
THE BASICS:

 GAME NOTES:
  • The Coyotes built big leads in the first two sets to lead them to victory in the first two sets. The Wolves managed to start set three off better, but it did not last for long as the Coyotes built a big lead and rode it to a set-three victory.
  • The Coyotes recorded 36 kills while the Wolves notched 20 over the three sets.
PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS:
  • C of I received a double-double from Margie Beeler (19 assists, 10 digs), while Austyn Mauzy led the team in kills with nine.
  • Three Wolves recorded four-plus kills, while setter Krista Schafer recorded 10 assists.
 
Game 2:
La Grande, Ore. – Walla Walla continued their weekend road trip, traveling to another ranked opponent, No. 5 Eastern Oregon University (EOU). EOU displayed too much firepower for the Wolves and cruised to a straight-set victory, 25-20, 25-12, 25-14.

 GAME NOTES:
  • The Wolves gave the Mountaineers all they had in the opening set, as they held a slim 6-5 lead. The Mountaineers responded and regained the lead and was able to hold off a Wolves rally, winning the set 25-20. Sets two and three saw EOU use big runs to guide them to victory in each set.
  • The Mountaineers recorded 36 kills while the Wolves notched 23 over the three sets.
PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS:
  • EOU was led by a balanced attack, as four Mountaineers recorded at least five kills.
  • Four Wolves recorded five-plus kills, while setters Krista Schafer (9 assists) and Anja Cole (8 assists) led the Wolves in the passing department. Emi Bezman recorded a season-high 11 digs in the loss.
 
NEXT GAME:
The Wolves make a trip to Portland next Friday for a rematch with Multnomah University on Friday, October 25 at 3 p.m.
