Eugene, Ore. – The Walla Walla men's basketball continued their season, traveling to Northwest Christian University (NCU) for a two-game back-to-back weekend series.
THE BASICS:
Final: Walla Walla 66, NCU 92
GAME NOTES:
- The Wolves began the game in a small hole, but Zayne Browning converted a three-point play to give the Wolves first lead at 10-9, seven minutes into the game. The Wolves continued to answer the Beacons and built a three-point lead after Artur Borges Paraizo went on a quick 5-0 run. The Beacons would then have the best run of the game over the next four minutes, going on a 14-2 lead while continuing their offensive attack for the rest of the half. The Beacons took a 44-29 lead into intermission.
- The Wolves cut the deficit to 11 five minutes into the second half, however, the Beacons responded with a 17-8 run to extend the lead out to 20 and added onto their big lead before the final buzzer sounded.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Browning brothers led the Wolves in scoring, as Zayne Browning scored a team-high 15 points, while Dylan Browning recorded his first double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
- Reigning Red Lion Player of the Week KiAndre Gaddy was plagued by foul trouble and played only 13 minutes, scoring nine points and five rebounds. Gaddy picked up his fifth personal foul with just over seven minutes remaining.
- The Beacons shot 46-percent from the field for the game while the Wolves shot 36-percent. The Beacons shot 12-for-20 from beyond the arc, while the Wolves shot 2-for-15.

GAME NOTES:
- In a back-and-forth first five minutes, the Wolves were able to build a small 13-9 lead as Zayne Browning helped the Wolves off to the hot start. The Beacons crept back into the game, tying the score up at 19 after Stevie Schlabach converted a two-point basket. The Beacons continued their run, found their first lead since the early stages of the game, and extended their lead out to 31-22 with seven-plus minutes remaining.
- The Wolves responded, however, riding the hot hand of Caleb Golden as the first half wound down. The Wolves scored 23 points in the final eight minutes while limiting the Beacons to 10 points to take a 45-41 lead at the half.
- After the Wolves extended their lead out to 50-41, a quick 11-2 run in the early stages of the half got the Beacons right back into the ball game. The game continued to remain within reach for the Wolves, but an 11-2 run over a five-minute stretch gave the Beacons breathing room with just under six minutes remaining.
- The Beacons added onto their lead, as it reached 14 points, but the Wolves raced back to cut the deficit to 84-77 and had a chance to cut more into the deficit with little over a minute remaining, but the offense came up short and the Beacons converted free-throws down the stretch to secure the game.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Five Wolves scored in double-figures, led by KiAndre Gaddy (24 points and 10 rebounds). The Wolves received a spark off the bench from Caleb Golden, scoring 10 of his 15 points in the first half.
- Ernest Ugoagu led the Beacon attack, scoring a game-high 29 points on 8-for-15 shooting.
- The Beacons connected on 9-of-24 three-point shots, while the Wolves shot 5-for-19.
The Wolves are back in action on Friday, welcoming in Eastern Oregon University. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 pm on Windemuth Court.
