Men's Basketball: No.12-Ranked Oregon Tech Shuts Down Wolves Despite Historic Scoring Game by KiAndre Gaddy

Klamath Falls, Ore. – Walla Walla men's basketball traveled down to No.12-Ranked Oregon Tech for their final regular-season road trip to take on the Owls for a two-game weekend series. Despite KiAndre Gaddy scoring 42 points and breaking the school-scoring record he set three weeks ago at Multnomah University, the Wolves could not overcome the balanced offensive attack by the Owls, as five players recorded double-digits to lead them to the victory.

THE BASICS:
Final:  Walla Walla 83, #12 Oregon Tech 101
Records:  Walla Walla (6-21, 4-13 CCC), Oregon Tech (21-6, 11-6 CCC)

 GAME NOTES:
  • Oregon Tech took a quick 5-0 lead and continued their impressive start, scoring 14 of the games first 18 points to build a 14-4 lead five minutes into the game. The Wolves responded, however, putting together their first run (9-0) of the game to cut the Owls lead to 14-13. The Owls answered the Wolves run with another offensive run, scoring eight of the next 10 points to extend their lead back out to seven. The Owls continued to add to the lead, as Owls guard Mitchell Fink extended the lead out to double-digits after converting a jumper at the eight-minute mark.
  • The Wolves continued to chip away at the Owls lead. A Dylan Browning three-pointer cut the deficit to six points with just under seven minutes remaining, but the Wolves could not get any closer. The Owls outscored the Wolves 20-10 in the final seven minutes to take a 48-32 lead at the half, as both the Wolves leading scorers, KiAndre Gaddy and Zayne Browning had to sit for extended periods late in the half due to foul trouble.
  • The Owls limited the Wolves on offense to start the second half while extending their lead out to 24 five minutes into the half. The Wolves slowly chipped away, as Gaddy put the Wolves on his back, scoring 15 straight points to help the Wolves cut the deficit to 12 at 88-76. Unfortunately for the Wolves, the clock was not on their side. The Owls were able to stop the bleeding and limit the Wolves' chances down the stretch to claim the first matchup of the weekend.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  •  KiAndre Gaddy continued his historic season, scoring 35 of his school-record 42 points in the second half, knocking down a career-high and school-record 14 free-throws.
  • The Wolves tied their season-high with 12 steals while Zayne Browning swiped a career-high seven steals to go along with 18 points.
  • Tyler Hieb, coming off the bench for the Owls, led the No. 12-Ranked Oregon Tech attack, scoring 21 points on 6-for-8 shooting. The Owls bench outscored the Wolves bench 36-12.
