LA GRANDE, ORE. - Walla Walla concluded their first conference road trip, traveling to No. 18-Ranked College of Idaho (CoI) and Eastern Oregon University (EOU) this weekend.
THE BASICS:
Final: Walla Walla 79, #18 CoI 93
Records: Walla Walla (1-9, 0-4 CCC), #18 CoI (9-3, 3-1 CCC)
GAME NOTES:
- Both teams went back-and-forth in the first five-plus minutes of the game, as the score sat at a 12-12 tie before the Yotes went on a quick 5-0 run to reclaim the lead. The Yotes added to their run, building a double-digit lead and maintaining this lead throughout the rest of the opening half, taking a 48-35 lead into halftime.
- The Wolves wasted no time cutting into the halftime deficit, as Andrew Vaughan converted a layup to cap off a 19-8 run to cut the Yotes lead to 56-54 with 14 minutes remaining.
- The Yotes answered over the next five-plus minutes with a run of their own, putting together a 13-4 run to build their lead out to double-digits again at 69-58.
- The Wolves received another spark from Vaughan, as his triple cut the Wolves deficit to 72-67 at the six-minute mark. Unfortunately for the Wolves the next three minutes doomed the Wolves. The Yotes went on a game-clinching 9-1 run to retake a double-digit lead and held onto this lead to secure the victory.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The Yotes held a 38-20 scoring advantage off the bench.
- The Wolves forced 21 turnovers, resulting in 13 points while turning the ball over 12 times.
- The Yotes scored 22 points off 15 Wolves turnovers, while the Wolves converted 10 Yote turnovers into 12 points.
PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS:
- Johnny Radford led CoI with 21 points, as he helped the Yotes to a 38-20 scoring advantage off the bench.
- Reigning WVT Laboratory Player of the Week Zayne Browning scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Wolves. Andrew Vaughan chipped in with 17 points off the Wolves bench, shooting 3-for-4 from beyond the arc. KiAndre Gaddy picked up his fourth double-double of the season with 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Records: Walla Walla (1-10, 0-5 CCC), Eastern Oregon (6-6, 1-4 CCC)
GAME NOTES:
- The Mountaineers raced out to a quick 10-0 lead three minutes into the game, but the Wolves answered with a run of their own, going on a 16-7 run to cut the deficit to 17-16. Walla Walla would take their first lead of the game after an Almonds Sebirokwa layup gave the Wolves a 21-19 lead, but it would not last long. The Mountaineers scored the next 13 points to retake the lead, eventually holding to a 40-28 lead after the end of the first half.
- EOU continued answering each Wolves' comeback attempt in the second half, as the Wolves were unsuccessful cutting the lead to single digits. The Wolves could not overcome their second-half deficit as the Mountaineers secured their first conference win of the season.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Phillip Malatare scored 20 points to lead the Mountaineers.
- Zayne Browning notched his third consecutive game with at least 20 points, scoring 20 points to pace the Wolves. Browning also recorded 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals.
- Ethan Ford scored a season-high 14 points and KiAndre Gaddy chipped in with 14 points.
NEXT GAME:
Walla Walla will host Linfield College in a non-conference matchup tomorrow evening. The game is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. on Windemuth Court.
