COLLEGE PLACE, WASH. - Walla Walla hosted the Geoducks of Evergreen State College (TESC) to continue their 2021-22 Cascade Collegiate Conference season. The Wolves struggled from the field in the second half, as the Geoducks held the Wolves to 5-for-31 and outscored the Wolves 16-6 in the third quarter to fuel them to a 60-40 victory.

GAME NOTES:
- The Geoducks started the game off strong, building a 9-2 lead four minutes into the opening quarter. The Wolves responded, however, as an Isabella Robles triple cut the deficit to 11-9. The Geoducks countered, putting together a 9-4 run over the next three more minutes, but the Wolves would answer with another run, closing the quarter on a 5-0 run to cut the deficit to 20-18 after the first quarter.
- Walla Walla would take their first lead in the opening stages of the second quarter after a Jaliyah Casem floater put the Wolves up 21-20 at the eight-minute mark. The Wolves continued to hold a slim lead over the next five-plus minutes before a Caitlin Yenne three-pointer put the Geoducks up 26-25 with two minutes remaining. Both teams exchanged baskets the last two minutes, as the game went to halftime knotted up at 28-28.
- The Geoducks would retake the lead 34-32 midway through the third quarter and would extend their lead out to 37-32 after Geoducks forward Tasha Beckett converted a three-point play with three-plus minutes remaining. The Geoducks added to their lead, taking a 44-34 lead heading into the final quarter.
- Evergreen continued to extend their lead midway through the final quarter, as two Geoduck free throws pushed the lead out to 51-37. The Wolves cut the deficit to single-digits, but ran out of time, as the Geoducks secured the win, 60-44.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Both teams shot a combined 9-for-50 from beyond the arc.
- The Geoducks piled up the offensive rebounds, turning 16 second chance opportunities into 15 points, while the Wolves were held to two second-chance points.
- Both teams struggled from the free-throw line, as the Wolves shot 10-for-17 while the Geoducks shot 11-for-18.
PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS:
- Jalyn Sackrider led the Geoducks, recording a double-double with 17 points and 11 rebounds. Caitlin Yenne padded her stat line (8 rebounds, 7 points, 5 assists, 3 blocks).
- The Wolves were led by Isabella Robles, who was coming off a double-double (22 points & 12 rebounds) in the Wolves win at Lewis & Clark College (Ore.), scored a game-high 19 points. Jaliyah Casem chipped in with 11 points and tied her career-high in steals, swiping away six.

Walla Walla continues their season tomorrow night, welcoming the Eagles of Northwest University for their first matchup of the season. The game is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. on Windemuth Court.
