Northwest University Defeats the Wolves in Sunday Match

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — Walla Walla University played against Northwest University, Sunday afternoon, where the Eagles dominated the match and came out on top with a 6-0 victory.

The Northwest Eagles played a fast paced game, making sure to keep the ball on the offensive side as much as possible. This is seen as they totaled 17 shots for the match, compared to the Walla Walla Wolves who only had two shots—one from senior Ben Hewett and the other from junior Vinicius Silva. Out of the 17 shots for the Eagles, seven of them were on goal, giving senior goalkeeper, Diego Molina, only one save for the afternoon.

Northwest's goals went like this: Tyler Hopp scored the first goal in the first minute of the game and was assisted by Corbin Herrera. In the 14th minute, Jacen Stein joined the stat sheet with a goal, and was assisted by Damian Santos. At 26:17, Tyler Hopp scored his second goal, and Seito Gao had the assist. To end the first half, Andre Santos scored the fourth goal of the match, and Seito Gao earned his second assist for the match. Tyler Hopp had his third goal of the day at the 52nd minute—giving him a hat trick—and was assisted by Matthew Ludlow. Corbin Herrera scored the last goal for the Eagles at 65:43.

Though Walla Walla did not come out on top for this match, they still played hard. The second half the Wolves started to pick up the pace and played tighter defense on the Eagles—only allowing two goals to slip by. The second half is also where Vinicius Silva attempted a goal for the Wolves but fell short.

The Wolves are back on the road where they will go up against Warner Pacific University at noon on October 20.
