Box Score COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — Walla Walla Men's Soccer took on the Argos of University of Providence Sunday afternoon, in a match that was a fight to the finish. The Argos came out on top with two goals to Walla Walla's one.
Providence started the game off strong, taking 11 shots in the first half alone, which ended up getting their first point out of two from Tomeu Nebot who was assisted by Liam Vaux. The Wolves only had three shots for the first half. The second half was a different story where the Wolves came out fighting, taking nine shots to Providence's eight.
In the beginning of the second half, the Argos got their second goal from Jose Vasquez who was assisted by Kolby Hayes. The Wolves didn't take this lightly, fueling their offense. This new found motive allowed senior Colebren Schoenleber to take a shot outside of the box straight into the Argo's goal. Making this the first goal of the Wolves 2023 season.
On the defensive side of things there were four yellow cards drawn, three to Providence (Marcus John, Tomeu Bebot, and Kevin Maldonado), and one to Walla Walla's Lautaro Brehm.
Diego Molina had two saves for the Wolves and Thomas Sine also had two saves for the Argos.
The Wolves are on the road next weekend to Caldwell, Idaho, where they will go up against The College of Idaho at 3 pm on Friday, September 22.
