Wolves' Historic Season Ends with Ticket to Playoffs Despite Loss to the Beacons

Box Score COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — Walla Walla Women's volleyball (9-15, 8-14 CCC) faced the Beacons of Bushnell University (19-11, 14-8 CCC) Saturday evening for their final game of the regular season. The Beacons took the win, 4-1 (25-15, 22-25, 25-14, 25-18) handing the Wolves their second loss for the weekend.

The evening started off with senior night where seniors, Gabrielle and Danielle Faamausili were honored for all their hard work and dedication to Wolves Athletics. After the celebration, things started to heat up with Bushnell taking the first set by 10 points. Walla Walla responded back by taking the second set, but were unable to stop the Beacons impressive offense, resulting in losing the third and fourth sets. 

Despite the loss, the Wolves still made history by becoming the first team for Walla Walla Athletics to go to playoffs. This comes after becoming the first team to earn eight conference wins in a season. 

For the Wolves, Sahara Browning led the Wolves offense and defense with 17 kills and 15 digs, earning her yet another double-double for the season. Natalie Jimenez followed behind with 13 kills and Kiana Cueto with seven. Idalis Bedore helped on the defense as well with 12 digs and Melissa Monterroza had 15 assists, while senior Danielle Faamausili had 11. 

On the Beacons end, Hailey Heider dominated on offense with an outstanding 23 kills, followed by Amayah Semau with 13 and Leah Agost with 12. Kate Palelek had 24 assists for the evening, with Katie Belitz right behind with 20. Belle Parque had 21 digs for the defense, with Amyah Semau earning 15, giving her a double-double for the evening. 

The Wolves season is not over yet, as they will take on No. 5 seed College of Idaho on Tuesday, November 12 at 6 pm in Caldwell, Idaho.
