Walla Walla Men's Basketball Suffers Tough Loss to No. 3 College of Idaho

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — The Wolves fall to the No.3 Yotes of The College of Idaho in a tough Saturday night match. The Yotes scored 106 to the Wolves 61.

Walla Walla struggled to keep up with the fast-paced game that the 2023 NAIA Champions have perfected. For the first half, the Wolves kept up with the Yotes, only trailing by four points with five minutes left, thanks to Junior Guard Andrew Vaughan's four, back-to-back threes. However, after a timeout by College of Idaho, the Yotes turned up the heat and widened the gap—going into the half up by 30-points (61-31).

Junior Andrew Vaughan had a great game against the Yotes scoring 25 points for the Wolves. Newcomer, Steele Twiford followed with 10 points,, as well as six assists, two blocks and four rebounds. Senior Ethan Ford led the team in assists with seven, and added three steals, one block, and six rebounds to his stat sheet. Thomas Mestrov dominated on defense with eight rebounds for the night.

For the Yotes, Drew Wyman led with 20 points, and had three steals. Jake O'Neil had a double-double for the night with 13 points and 16 rebounds, as well as having four assists for the night. Samaje Morgan had 16 points, followed by Dougie Peoples with 15, and Johnny Radford with 12. Caden Handran had an impressive night with five blocks and three assists.

The Walla Walla Wolves will be back on the road next weekend, where they will go up against the Corban Warriors. Tip-off is at 2 pm in Salem, Oregon.
