COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — In a late night Saturday match, Walla Walla University Women's Basketball faced the Yotes of The College of Idaho, where the Yotes came out on top, winning 76 to 65.
Walla Walla had a slow start to their game, only scoring 14 points in the first quarter to College of Idhao's 21. The Yotes had an impressive offensive game, going 13 for 18 from the three, and shooting 52.8% for field goals. This sharp shooting helped the Yotes to victory over the Wolves. The Wolves tried to comeback in the fourth quarter, where they went on a run, bringing the score within six points, thanks to a layup made by freshman, Grace Casagrande. Despite the Wolves best efforts and even out-score the Yotes, 16 to 13, it still was not enough.
Walla Walla's Chariah Daniels earned her eighth double-double of the season, with 17 points and 12 rebounds, and had four steals and three assists. Freshman Maren Jones, also had an impressive night with 12 points, three rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Natalee Trevino had a good game as well, with 10 points and one steal.
On the Yotes side, Mia Austin had a great game with 15 points and going five for five from the three. Brooke Beresford followed with 13 points, as well as having nine rebounds, four assists, and three blocks. Kylie Waltermeyer, Anna Mooney, and McKenzie Hirsch all had none points for the night.
Walla Walla's next game is next week. Where they will go up against Corban University on Friday, February 9, at 12 pm in Salem, Oregon.
