WALLA WALLA, Wash. — The Northwest University Men's Basketball team scored 49 points in the first half en route to a 92-73 victory against Walla Walla in a Cascade Conference game at Sherwood Athletic Center on Friday.
The loss was the seventh in a row for the Wolves and dropped their record to 2-15 overall and 1-12 in CCC action.
Andrew Vaughan led Walla Walla with 15 points on 6-of-12 shooting and recorded two steals. Vaughan became the first Wolves' men's basketball player to attempt 1,000 field goals in a career.
Soren Dalan recorded a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds and two steals. The sophomore moved to fourth all-time for most offensive rebounds in a single season (58).
Almonds Sebirokwa added 14 points and seven rebounds.
The Wolves jumped out to a 5-0 lead and maintained the advantage until Northwest tied the game at 13-13 five minutes in. Walla Walla was unable to lead the rest of the game.
Steele Twiford was 2-for-2 from beyond the arc to lead a 5-of-11 WWU performance from the 3-point line. The Wolves forced 10 turnovers and the rebound battle ended in a 38-38 tie.
Nash Wobrock led the Eagles with 22 points. Ethan Martin was red hot from 3 and finished with 20 points aided by five 3-pointers. Trent Williams added 12 points and Filip Mugosa finished with 10.
Northwest was tough to stop in the first half and shot 57.1% (20-of-35) from the field and made 8-of-14 (57.1%) from beyond the arc. The Eagles finished with 12 made 3-pointers in the game.
The win snapped an eight-game losing streak for Northwest and improved its record to 3-15 overall and 2-10 in CCC play.
