OLYMPIA, Wash. — Walla Walla Women's Soccer set a program record with two goals in a single game, but it was the Geoducks of Evergreen State that took home the 3-2 victory in a Cascade Conference contest on Friday.
Walla Walla (0-7, 0-7) got on the board first with a quick attack by
Brianna Vidali-Rood in the third minute and the Wolves had an early advantage.
Evergreen State (1-10, 1-7) battled back with a shot by Madeline Dorendorf on assists by Anna Mortensen and Emma Stock to tie the game up in the 25th minute. Nearly 14 minutes later it was Stock with a header off a pass from Macey Swensen that gave TESC a 2-1 lead.
Two-sport athlete
Vicky Giardina earned a penalty kick and knocked it in late in the first half and the two teams went into halftime square.
The Geoducks earned a penalty kick of their own in the 51st minute and Angela Celedon capitalized for the lone goal in the second half to secure the first win of the season for Evergreen State.
Giardina and
Emily Mijaljevic were both able to get shots off for the Wolves in the second half, but WWU was unable to find the equalizer.
Allanah Rodriguez-Facio had nine saves in the game for Walla Walla, her total is now up to 102 on the season.
