COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — Southern Oregon spoiled senior day for the Walla Walla Men's Soccer team with a late goal in a 1-0 Cascade Conference regular season finale on Sunday.
Papa Yansane broke a scoreless tie in the 81st minute for the Raiders (10-4-4, 5-4-3) when he was able to sneak one by on Sabas Vargas.
Walla Walla (3-9, 3-9) had opportunities late to knot up the score, but Southern Oregon shut the door each time.
Eniola Smith,
Mauro Garrotte and
Cai Calvo each recorded a shot on goal for the Wolves. Vargas had 12 saves for WWU.
It was a successful season for the Wolves that saw them tie a program record with three wins, but back-to-back 1-0 losses to conclude the season held Walla Walla from an historic season for the team. The Wolves finished the regular season in 11th in the CCC, five points out of a conference tournament spot.
