COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — The Walla Walla Women's Soccer team opened its season with a 5-0 loss to No. 5 College of Idaho in a Cascade Conference contest at the Walla Walla Soccer Complex on Friday.
Allanah Rodriguez-Facio was strong in the net for Walla Walla (0-1-0, 0-1-0) with 18 saves. Rodriguez-Facio set a program record with her performance.
Anacel Valenzuela-Acosta put the only shot on the board for the Wolves in an attempt that went wide.
The Yotes (4-1-0, 1-0-0) showed why they are one of the best teams in the NAIA with a relentless attack. College of Idaho had 43 shots with 26 on goal. Five different players put one in the back of the net for the visitors with four of them in the first half.
College of Idaho scored early with a shot by Natasja Davis off an assist by Gianna Yslava in the eighth minute. The combo flipped when Yslava found the back of the net a minute later. Allison Moultray, Campbell Reed and Eden Makaafi also scored in the victory.
Walla Walla found its footing as the match moved on and played stingy defense in front of Rodriguez-Facio at net.
