COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — The Walla Walla Women's Soccer team scored its first goal of the season, but it was not enough to keep up with Eastern Oregon in a 5-1 Cascade Conference game on Sunday.
Vicky Giardina, who also plays on the women's volleyball team, ricocheted a shot off the right post into the net in the 40th minute to give the Wolves (0-2, 0-2) their first goal of the season and the second as a program.
Maria Bass was credited with the assist on the play.
Allanah Rodriguez-Facio was once again fantastic at goal with 21 saves, but the Mountaineers (5-2-1, 2-0) were relentless with 29 shots on goal.
Ava Henkemeyer had two goals for Eastern Oregon in the victory. Karina DeYoung, Siena Salazar and Delaney Pink also found the back of the net for the Mountaineers.
