CALDWELL, Idaho – Walla Walla University Men's Soccer battled to a 2-2 draw against The College of Idaho Sunday afternoon at Simplot Stadium after taking a two-goal lead into the second half.
The Wolves opened the scoring in the 34th minute when Paulo Tostado found the back of the net to give Walla Walla a 1-0 advantage heading into halftime.
Walla Walla wasted little time adding to its lead in the second half. Tostado scored again less than a minute into the half, putting the Wolves ahead 2-0 and giving them momentum early in the final 45 minutes.
The College of Idaho responded in the 63rd minute when Alfie Roffey cut the deficit in half with his first goal of the season.
Walla Walla continued to battle as the Yotes increased their pressure late in the match. The College of Idaho eventually found the equalizer in the 87th minute when Hudson Steele scored off an assist from Chris Slater, bringing the match level at 2-2.
The Wolves created several opportunities throughout the match and finished with a 13-10 advantage in total shots and an 8-5 edge in shots on goal. Walla Walla goalkeeper Sebas Vargas made three saves in the match.
Tostado led the Wolves offensively with two goals, while Walla Walla's defense helped limit The College of Idaho to five shots on goal.
Walla Walla earned a point in the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings with the draw and will look to build on the result in its next conference match.
