Wolves Fall to No. 4 Yotes in Caldwell

CALDWELL, Idaho – Walla Walla University Women's Volleyball fell to the College of Idaho in straight sets Friday afternoon, 25-6, 25-17, 25-14, in Cascade Collegiate Conference play.

The Wolves faced an early deficit in the opening set as the Yotes jumped out to an 8-2 lead. Walla Walla battled to find its rhythm offensively, but College of Idaho closed the set on a 7-0 run to take a 1-0 lead.

Walla Walla continued to battle in the second set, but the Yotes built an early 10-3 advantage. The Wolves worked to close the gap throughout the set, but College of Idaho maintained control and took the second set, 25-17.

The Wolves came out with a stronger start in the third set, keeping the score tied at 3-3 early. College of Idaho responded with an 11-1 run to take a 16-8 lead and eventually closed out the match with a 25-14 third-set victory.

Sahara Browning led the Wolves offensively with 10 kills, while Kienna Stepper added five kills.

Head Coach Don Hepker reflected on the loss, saying, "This was a tough loss. It's the first time this season that everyone had an off night. Hats off to C of I, they played an almost error-free game. We showed signs of life at the end of the second set through the beginning of the third, but couldn't hold the momentum. We are looking forward to tomorrow night and our match against EOU."

College of Idaho finished the match with a .444 hitting percentage, recording 38 kills and 10 service aces. Walla Walla was held to a .027 hitting percentage.

The loss moves the Wolves to 3-6 overall and 3-4 in CCC play.

UP NEXT – Walla Walla takes on No. 1 Eastern Oregon University Saturday night at 8 p.m.
