College Place, Wash.- Walla Walla University will be a busy place starting Friday morning.  Freshman will be arriving in the area and on campus, while the Wolves have their first big sports weekend of the year.  Soccer and volleyball are both at home, while the golf team's hit the road for their first conference tournament of the season.  All four teams will be in conference contests, with volleyball taking on a nationally ranked opponent.

Wolves soccer takes on Southern Oregon University (2-1) Friday morning.  The Raiders will be getting their first taste of conference play; however, they have a two game winning streak with shutouts in both.  Walla Walla will need to take note of Daniel Zamores, who is leading the team with 2 goals.  Sean McManamon and Mitchell Pinney each have a goal and a pair of assists this season.  Goalie Jonathan Morales has 5 saves on the books and lead the team at goal in both shutouts.

The Owls of Oregon Tech (3-1-1) come to town Saturday night, and will be opening up conference play Friday against Multnomah College.  Trinidad Flores and Brennan Gazdik have each scored a pair of goals for the Owls this season, and Lodewijk Bloemzaad has chipped in a goal and two assists so far.  Through five matches, Oregon Tech has scored a total of nine goals while only giving up 3.

Women's volleyball is coming off their long road trip, and after a few days to prepare get right back into the conference schedule.  The women square off against Northwest Christian University (4-7, 2-3), who knocked off #24 Corban University on Tuesday night.  Taylor Burnett and Kendall Bergsten has lead the Beacons in kills, with 77 & 76 each.*  Maci Beierle a 120 assists and 31 digs on the season so far.  The Wolves will also need to be on the lookout for the serving prowess of Laurie Salness, who already has 20 aces on the season.

On Sunday, the Wolves will be off-site for their home game against #24 Corban University (7-4, 3-2).  The game will be played at College Place High School (need directions CLICK HERE).  While the Warriors did drop their last game, they had just come off a win over #12 College of Idaho on Saturday.  Amber Parker leads the team with a whopping 187 kills on the season so far.  Setting Madison McLain has 499 assists and managed 103 digs so far this season.  The Warriors have proven to be very scrappy this season, many of their games have been pushed to multiple sets and more often than not Corban has come out on top.

Men's and Women's golf are headed to Salishan Resort for the Corban University Coastal Collegiate Classic.  Coming off their first tournament of the season, the teams are both excited to get their second shot at play.  This will be the first conference tournament of the season, and the competition will be stiff.  We will have extensive coverage of the golf tournament this on Monday and Tuesday, so check out our social media to follow along.
