Portland, Ore. – Walla Walla women's basketball played a weekend series at Warner Pacific University over the weekend. Both games were decided by single-digits, as the Knights improved to 3-2 in conference play, while the Wolves remain winless at 0-4.
GAME 1
THE BASICS:
Final: Walla Walla 56, Warner Pacific 63
GAME NOTES:
- The Knights raced out to an 11-0 lead in the first quarter and took a 21-11 lead after the quarter. The Wolves shot just 19-percent from the field, while the Knight shot 53-percent.
- The Wolves were able to cut into the deficit in the second quarter, scoring the first five points of the quarter, but the Knights answered and extended their lead back to double-digits before an Isabella Robles 3-pointer right before halftime cut the deficit to single digits at 34-26.
- The Knights maintained a double-digit lead for most of the third quarter, extending their lead to 15 points multiple times throughout the quarter before the Wolves would cut it to 10 heading into the fourth quarter.
- The Wolves continued chipping away in the fourth quarter, cutting the deficit to four to trail 56-52 with four minutes left in the game. The Wolves would have multiple opportunities down the stretch in the one-possession game but came up short.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Isabella Robles led the Wolves in scoring with 20 points.
- Jacqueline Saucedo recorded a season-high 16 points to go along with seven rebounds and a career-high six steals. Jaliyah Casem was the only other player for the Wolves to score in double-digits with 15 points. The trio was responsible for 91-percent of the Wolves scoring.
- The Wolves recorded a season-high 40 rebounds and were led by Robles and Saucedo, who each grabbed seven.
- The Knights slightly outshot the Wolves, shooting 34-percent on 22-for-61 while the Wolves shot 31-percent on 20-for-64.
GAME 2
THE BASICS:

GAME NOTES:
- In a back-and-forth first half, the Wolves trailed 37-33 heading into the break. Points off turnovers were identical, as each team scored 11 points. Nine first-half second chance points contributed to the first-half lead for the Knights.
- After the Knights started the third quarter by scoring the first eight points to extend their lead to 12, the Wolves answered with a run of their own. Fueled by their defense, the Wolves held the Knights scoreless for the remaining seven-plus minutes of the quarter, ending on a 16-0 run to take 49-45 lead heading into the final quarter. Isabella Robles scored eight of her team-high 21 points during the run.
- The Wolves built their lead to seven in the fourth quarter, but the Knights battled back. With the Wolves holding a five-point lead with 1:19 remaining, the Knights stormed back to tie the game up at 64, converting two free-throws after being fouled on an offensive rebound free-throw attempt by the Knights guard Darbi Pink. The Knights found their most important second-chance opportunity of the game with five seconds remaining. Knights forward Kali Krugar scored off an offensive rebound to give the Knights their first lead of the quarter and the Wolves turned the ball over as time expired.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- The trip of Isabella Robles (21 points, five steals, four rebounds), Jaliyah Casem (19 points, six steals, four rebounds), and Jacqueline Saucedo (10 points, nine rebounds, four assists) led the Wolves offensive attack.
- The 18 steals is a season-high for the Wolves.
- The Wolves were a plus-11 in the points off turnovers but were outscored 13-7 in second-chance points.
The Wolves will continue their season in 2020, heading to Evergreen State College (Olympia, Wash.). Tipoff for the first game is scheduled for January 3 at 12 p.m.
