Salem, Ore. – After weather pushed back games for a day, Walla Walla was able to travel over to Salem to square off against No. 19 Corban University this past weekend. The Warriors picked up a pair of wins while clinching the No. 2 seed for conference playoffs in the process.
Game one saw the Warriors (22-8, 16-4 CCC) hold the Wolves (2-25, 1-17 CCC) to 13 first-half points en route to a 63-37 victory. Wolves guard
Carolina Montes led the Wolves with 17 points while freshman guard Iztel Rubio contributed 10 points.
In game two, the Wolves would have much better success on offense, outscoring the No. 19 Warriors 32-27 in the second half. The Wolves, however, could not overcome a 23-12 deficit in the opening quarter and the upset bid would fall short. The Warriors held on for a 67-58 victory and clinched the No. 2 seed.
Despite the loss, Walla Walla had a trio of Wolves put in great efforts.
Carolina Montes led the Wolves scoring attack with 15 points, giving her four straight games in double-digits. Sophomore
Titi Graham posted a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds while
Britnee Guerrero swiped 5 of the Wolves 13 steals while scoring 12 points.
