Women's Basketball: (RV) Southern Oregon Pulls Away in Fourth Quarter to Spoil Wolves Senior Night

Carolina Montes Estrada Ends Career with Program Record 1455 Career Points

COLLEGE PLACE, WASH. - Kami Walk and Syd'Nee Fryer both had double-doubles for Southern Oregon, as the Raiders pulled away in the fourth quarter, spoiling Senior Night for Walla Walla guard Carolina Montes-Estrada. Despite the loss, Montes-Estrada finishes her career with the most points in program history with 1455 career points and broke her record for most points scored in a season, scoring 418 points on the season, breaking her 414 point total back in the 2019-20 season.

 GAME NOTES:

  • Walla Walla shot 3-for-4 from beyond the arc in the opening quarter, as all five starters scored to help the Wolves to a 13-10 lead.
  • The Raiders answered right away to begin the second quarter, knocking down three straight 3-pointers to to push their lead to 19-13. The Wolves cut it to 26-23 after a Montes-Estrada 3-pointer, but the Raiders scored on their next two possessions and took a 30-23 halftime lead.
  • The Wolves continued to chip away at the Raiders lead throughout the third quarter and two free throws from Jannah Follett brought the Wolves to within 35-33 at the conclusion of the quarter.
  • The Raiders scored the first eight points of the final quarter, forcing the Wolves to play catch up while extending their lead out to double-digits midway through the quarter. A Kami Walk three-point play all but sealed the win, as the Raiders lead reached 16 and the Wolves ran out of time.

 PLAYER HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Dominique Harding scored 17 points and both Kami Walk and Syd'Nee Fryer chipped in with double-doubles to lead the Raiders.
  • Carolina Montes-Estrada scored a game-high 19 points, while Isabella Robles stuffed the stat sheet with 9 points, 5 steals, career-high 4 blocks, and 4 rebounds. Montes-Estrada had yet another career accomplishment, converting her 500th career made field goal.
