Men's Basketball: The Wolves Gain Their First Win of the 22-23 Season Over the Geoducks

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — The Walla Walla Wolves gained their first conference and season win of the 22-23 season against the Evergreen Geoducks Saturday evening. The Wolves won, 120-94.

In this matchup, it was a game riddled with fouls from both teams, with multiple players going into foul trouble. The Wolves didn't let this stop them from playing their game, and putting up an unbreakable offense, leading them to their victory.

Going into the half, the Wolves led by 14 points (50-36), and did not let up on this lead. The Geoducks fought hard to come back but were unable to in the end.

Andrew Vaughan came out hot after having an off game Friday afternoon and led the team 19 points. When asked how it felt to get their first win of the season, Vaughan mentions how they [the team] played an "unselfish game" and recognized that it was a "team effort" with multiple players scoring double digits. To finish off his thoughts, "it was a beautiful thing [having the team all contribute to the win] and was a lot of fun."

More than half of the Wolves' team scored over 10 points. Ethan Ford and Caleb Golden both had 15 points for the evening. Followed by Esais Ford who had 14 points to end the night, and led the team in rebounds with 7. Jordyn Perez and Jalen Freeman both had matching stats with 6 assists.

Coach Brandon Broome had some thoughts on their win tonight, pointing out that "we feel good to get a win, and we needed to win [which] is great." He mentions how hard the guys have been working and what led to their win tonight was "playing together and sharing the ball."

For the Evergreen Geoducks, Tyler Williford carried his team with a double double for the evening, gaining 34 points and 14 rebounds. Jayden Upshaw had 21 points and led his team with 4 assists for the night.

The Wolves are back on the road to face off with Eastern Oregon University on January 27 at 12 pm.
