Box Score COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — Walla Walla men's soccer went up against the Warriors of Corban University in a competitive Friday afternoon match. Corban University came out on top with a 4-1 win over Walla Walla.
The first half of the game was a slow start for the Wolves, with only four shots compared to Corban's 10—though this didn't last long. After halftime, Walla Walla came out looking better than ever, attempting 11 shots in the second half, whereas Corban had another. One of those shots led to Walla Walla's first and only goal for the match by senior Ben Hewett in the 67th minute with an assist from Rolando Gallart Franco.
Despite Walla Walla's efforts, the Warriors still had the upper hand, playing a quick offense that led them to four goals. Evan Hoover had two goals for the match, both of which were scored in the first half. Irwin Leon and Bryan Nicolas scored the third and fourth goals for the second half. Irwin Leon also assisted Evan Hoover's second goal, and Bryan Nicolas assisted Irwin Leon's goal.
Corban's goalkeeper, Isaac Pureco, had six saves for the match, and Walla Walla's Diego Molina had two saves.
The Wolves play in their last game of the season Sunday, October 29 at 1 pm against the Bushnell Beacons. Make sure to come early and celebrate seniors, Diego Molina, Colebren Schoenleber, Nyasha Pazvakawambwa, Ben Hewett, and Davis Nordby.
