COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — Walla Walla University (1-21, CCC 1-20) took on the Yotes of The College of Idaho (16-12, CCC 14-6) Friday afternoon. The Yotes took the dub in a three set sweep (25-14, 25-17, 25-12).
Walla Walla played well against the 4th place College of Idaho, keeping the game close and even tying with the Yotes in the beginning of the second set. Yet the Yotes' impressive offense was hard to beat with the team hitting average of .433 compared to the Wolves .066.
For the Wolves, Femke Eising led the team in kills with six, followed by Lauren Moody and senior Jocelyn Curiel Ruiz who had five kills apiece. Sophomore setter Danielle Faamausili led the Wolves with 13 assists and senior setter Meherio Krainer had 12 assists for the match. Libero freshman Zoe Cessna had a good match with 10 digs for the afternoon.
On the Yotes side, Jade Warren had 12 kills followed by Janae Rayborn who had 10. Janae Rayborn and Clair Hodge both tied with nine digs for the match. Setter Analise Hitchcock had an impressive match with 26 assists for the afternoon.
The Wolves will be back tomorrow evening at 8 pm where they will face #1 in the CCC and #3 in the NAIA, Eastern Oregon. This is a special night as there will not only be a green-out, but seniors Jocelyn Curiel Ruiz and Meherio Krainer will be recognized as they play in their final collegiate match.
