Wolves Win in Conference Home Opener Over Evergreen State

COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — Walla Walla University took on Evergreen State College Thursday night to open up their conference play. This game gained the Walla Walla Wolves their first conference win of the season.

The Facts:

The Wolves' strong defense and quick offense were the keys that helped lead them to victory over the Evergreen Geoducks. In the first half they were able to keep an 11-point difference between them and the Geoducks, which stayed consistent throughout the game. The Wolves defense not only helped in stopping Evergreen from getting close to tying the game, but Walla Walla's quick ball movement on the offense helped as well.

The quick pace of Walla Walla can be seen as they were able to score eight points off of fast breaks compared to the Geoducks six. Another aspect that helped the Wolves was utilizing the paint where they scored 40 of their points compared to Evergreen's 20. The Wolves also out-rebounded the Geoducks 43 to 36 and had a field goal percentage of 57.8%.
