COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — Walla Walla University starts off conference play on a high note, as they take the victory over Northwest University early Friday Afternoon. This win allows the Wolves to advance to 2-0 in their conference play.
How it Happened:
The first half started out with Walla Walla and Northwest going head to head training to gain control of the game. Within six minutes past tip-off, the Wolves and the Eagles were tied 8-8, then tied at 10-10. It wasn't until Walla Walla's 12th and 4th points, did the gap start to widen, and give them an eight-point lead. The Eagles weren't going to let the Wolves get too far ahead and with the help of Caleb Whalen going two-for-two at the free throws, brought the game back to a five-point game.
The Wolves continued to maintain control of the game, making sure to not let the Eagles tie up the game again. Head coach Brandon Broome helped solidify this by taking timeoust when the Eagles were within six points of Walla Walla. Not only did Broome's effective timeouts guide the Wolves, but the team's efforts and teamwork aided to their 79-63 win over the Northwest Eagles.
