COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — The Walla Walla University Wolves lost to The Evergreen State Geoducks in their home opener, 0-3.
Despite the loss, the Wolves kept the energy and excitement throughout the match. In the first set, the Wolves were down 13-21, but sophomore transfer Danielle Faamausili led the Wolves on a six point run to get the score to 20-21. The Geoducks were not prepared for this comeback, taking their first and only timeout in the match. However, despite the comeback, the Wolves lost the first set, 23-25.
The second and third sets were not in the Wolves' favor as the Geoducks took control of the game—not letting the Wolves make another comeback. Sophia Scroggins led Evergreen with nine kills for the match, followed by Kaiyah Brown with eight. Jaydn Kallenberger, Lucendy Perez, and Marin Collins followed with six kills apiece. Libero Rylee Grams had 20 digs for the match, and Jessica Mitchell led in assists with 19.
As for Walla Walla, freshman Lauren Moody led with six kills, followed by freshman Femke Eising with four. Danielle Faamausili gained her first double-double of the season with 10 assists and 10 digs. Lauren Moody also tied with Faamausili with 10 digs, followed by sophomore libero, Celeste Santellano, with nine.
The Wolves are back on home court tomorrow night to face off against the Northwest Eagles at 9 pm!
