Box Score COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — Walla Walla played in their first five set thriller of the season against Multnomah University, Friday afternoon. The Multnomah Lions came out on top, winning the match, 3-2 (21-25, 26-24,19-25, 29-27, 9-15).
The Walla Walla Wolves put on a show for a packed gymnasium, showing the fans and the Lions that this was not going to be an easy feat. The Wolves delivered on this message by keeping each set within mere points of each other. In both the second and fourth sets, Walla Walla won by fighting to the very end (26-24, 29-27). However, the Lions took the fifth and final set (9-15), gaining victory over the Wolves. Head coach Breayn Bussell and assistant coach Lauren Bosler, both agreed that the Wolves showed resilience in this match.
Walla Walla had many players earn career highs such as Femke Eising with 12 kills and 18 digs, as well as Lauren Moody with 21 digs. Setters Danielle Faamausili and Meherio Krainer tied with 17 assists each. Jocelyn Curiel Ruiz, Lauren Moody, and Gabrielle Faamusili all had seven kills for the afternoon.
On Multnomah's end, Jade Ilaoa led the team with 14 kills. Eliana Dean had 27 assists followed by Aiyana Henderson who had 18. Libero Lauren Porter had 39 kills to end the match.
The Wolves are back tomorrow night where they will defend home court as they go up against Warner Pacific University at 9 pm. This will be a match that no one will want to miss.
