COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — The first home game back from winter break was a matchup between No. 1 Oregon Tech and Walla Walla University. Oregon Tech took the win with a dominant fourth quarter, 71-64.
Despite the snow outside and the chill in Windemuth Court, Walla Walla brought the heat, outscoring Oregon Tech in the first and third quarters. The Wolves held their own for three quarters, always staying at least two points ahead. It wasn't until the Oregon Tech Owls came back in the fourth quarter, going on a run, and outscoring the Wolves 26 to 15, that the Wolves lost their lead.
Walla Walla's Jaliyah Casem had a season high with 25 points, going 50% from the three, and going five for six from the line. Jordan Green-Wallace also had a great afternoon with a season high of eight points, along with four rebounds for the Wolves. Freshman point guard Maren Jones trailed behind with seven points and two assists. Another player that stood out was freshman Grace Casagrande who was two for three from the three, adding six points to the teams score. Junior Chariah Daniels led the team in rebounds and steals, with six and four respectively.
On the Owls end, Olivia Sprague led the team with 22 points, followed by Gabbie Gascon who had 14 points, as well as seven assists, and four steals. Tatum Schmerbach led the team in rebounds with 14 and also had four assists for the afternoon.
