COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — Walla Walla University Women's Volleyball swept the Northwest University Eagles in three sets (25-15, 25-23, 25-16) Friday afternoon, after going to five sets back in September.
Walla Walla was determined to not use all five sets this time, making sure to seal the deal in three and they did not disappoint. It was an all around impressive defensive game for the Wolves with more than half of the players earning digs, while five of those players had more than five digs (Sahara Browning 9 digs, Celeste Santellano 8 digs, Kiana Cueto 8 digs, Natalia Jimenez 7 digs, and Idalis Bedore 6 digs).
Sahara Browning and Melissa Monterroza also dominated on offense for the Wolves. Monterroza gained a career high of 19 assists and Browning had yet another match with 20 plus kills, for a total of 25 kills.
For the visiting Eagles, Morgan Harter had an impressive 22 assists for the match, followed by Kaitlyn Mickle who had 13 kills and Elli Van Berkum who had six digs.
Walla Walla will be back in the Dietrich Activity Center on the campus of Walla Walla Community College tomorrow night for their second matchup with The Evergreen State College Geoducks at 8 pm.
