COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — The Walla Walla University Wolves (6-8, 5-7 CCC) took on the Yotes of The College of Idaho (10-9, 6-5 CCC) on home court for a late Saturday match. The Yotes took the win in three sets (25-21, 26-24, 25-20), giving the Wolves their second loss for the weekend.
It was a packed house in Windemuth Court as Wolves fans created a sea of green for Green-Out night. An electric crowd showed up for this match as Walla Walla and College of Idaho fought it out on the court. Despite the Wolves making a comeback in the second set, the Yotes fought back harder and were able to take all three sets for the night.
Walla Walla's offense was led by setters Melissa Monterroza (16 assists) and Danielle Faamausili (16 assists), and outside hitter Sahara Browning (18 kills). While the defense was held down by both Idalis Bedore (12 digs) and Sahara Browning (15 digs). Browning also added two serving aces to her stat sheet for the match, giving her another impressive game.
Walla Walla will be back to defending home court next weekend where they will go up against Northwest University and The Evergreen State College on Friday at 2 pm and Saturday at 8 pm.
