COLLEGE PLACE, Wash. — After a delayed start, Walla Walla Men's Soccer (0-2, 0-2 CCC) had their conference home opener Friday afternoon against Eastern Oregon University (3-1-1, 2-0-1 CCC). The Mounties of EOU took their third conference win and fourth overall win over the Walla Walla Wolves, 0-4.
Eastern Oregon's offense was unstoppable in the first half, where they scored three of their four goals. The Mounties had 18 shots, with 10 being on goal, compared to the Wolves four, with only three of them being on goal. However, in the second half the Wolves started playing together and played a tight defense, not letting the Mounties get another goal, until the last 15 minutes when Jesus Alvarez sneaked by and scored the fourth and final goal of the match.
Jesus Alvarez scored two of the Eastern's goals, with his being the first and the last goal of the match. Alvarez's first goal was assisted by Edgar Romero Perez, whereas his second goal was unassisted. Angel Sandoval scored the second goal at 25:18 and was assisted by Jahrie Gray, followed by Milton Hernandez who scored the third goal at 38:21 and was assisted by Tawanda Rice.
For the Wolves, Sean Salina, Joaquin Calvo, and Stefan Ullrich were the only three that had taken shots during the game. With two shots on goal coming from Sean Salina. Joaquin Calvo had the Wolves third shot on goal.
When looking at goalies, Eastern Oregon's Sebastian Guillen had two saves for the match while Walla Walla's Kylan LeGault had five saves.
The Wolves will be back on Sunday, September 29 where they will take on the Yotes of The College of Idaho at 1 pm at the Walla Walla University Soccer Complex.
