WALLA WALLA, Wash. — Freshman
Jaylo Bello connected on four 3-pointers, but the Walla Walla Women's Basketball team dropped a Cascade Conference contest to Corban 77-49 on Friday at Windemuth Court.
The loss dropped the Wolves to 4-11 overall and 1-8 in conference play.
Bello finished with 15 points and was the leading scorer for WWU.
Natalee Trevino added 11 points and
Chariah Daniels brought down 10 rebounds.
Walla Walla had a good shooting second quarter with a 7-of-12 (58.33%) performance. The Wolves hit 4-of-5 (80%) from beyond the arc in the quarter. Walla Walla held Corban to 25.9% (7-of-27) from the 3-point line in the game.
Corban improved to 6-9 overall and 4-5 in CCC play. Madison Hodnett led four Warriors in double-figures with 16 points. Tayla Yost added 11 points and Jenna Albrecht and Sevennah Van De Riet had 10 points each. The Warriors outrebounded the Wolves 48-27 in the win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Corban scored the first five points before
Sidney Folkenberg got Walla Walla on the board with a jumper and
Natalee Trevino converted two free throws. Bello made a jumper and a 3-pointer, but the Warriors led 16-9 with 2:35 to go in the first quarter.
Jordan Green-Wallace hit a free throw and Daniels was successful on both of her free throw attempts. Corban led 24-12 after the first quarter.
Jenna Albrecht of Corban opened the second quarter with a jumper. Walla Walla battled back as Bello hit three 3-pointers and Daniels added a pair of baskets and the Wolves cut the lead to six.
The Warriors scored 12 of the next 13 points. Haslam ended the half with a 3-pointer for Walla Walla. The Wolves trailed by 14 at halftime.
In the third quarter
Mireyah Lopez made a layup and a jumper, Green Wallace made 2-of-4 free throws and Trevino added a free throw. Folkenberg made a layup in the fourth quarter and Bello added a point with a converted free throw. Trevino scored the final five points for Walla Walla.

The Wolves will look to bounce back with a home game against Bushnell at 6 p.m. on Saturday at Windemuth Court.
