ASHLAND, Ore. — Walla Walla and Southern Oregon traded momentum all afternoon long, but it was the Raiders who survived in the end of a five-set battle in a Cascade Conference volleyball game on Friday.
The Raiders (8-10, 5-6) won by set scores of 25-22, 19-25, 25-23, 13-25 and 17-15.
Walla Walla (7-7, 5-6) rallied from two sets to one down, dominated the fourth set and had three match points in the fifth set. It was Southern Oregon who found the points when it needed them and the home team took five of the final six points for the victory.
The Wolves filled up the stat sheet with several players having career games.
Sahara Browning tied a season-high with 23 kills.
Paula Flores had her best game in a WWU jersey with 22 kills and 16 digs.
Yaimaris Garcia had 41 assists, most by any Walla Walla player this season.
Myckayla Shaver had nine total blocks, a total that the entire Wolves team had surpassed just once this season before Friday.
As a team, the Wolves set a season-high with 17 total blocks and had 58 kills (most since Aug. 15) with 54 assists (most since Sept. 19).Â
